Jay Stomp (a.k.a. th0rax) has been living with music in his veins from a very frail age. Ever since his father, a seaman in the closed post-communist Bulgarian society, brought the first stereo system into his house, Jay has been fascinated by the emotion, language, and passion that musical pieces embody. Upon entering the doors of Comics Club Varna (one of the biggest clubs on the Balkan Peninsula and the Mecca for electronic music in Bulgaria), he was immediately hooked into the electronic sound and realized that he wanted to be the person behind the DJ decks for life.
10 years later, after honing his mixing skills and enjoying numerous musical inspirations, Jay Stomp decided to move to New York, where he found creative and inspirational stimuli and like-minded individuals in the music world. For the past two and a half years, he has spun a variety of genres, ranging from hip hop to downtempo to funky breaks to house, always remaining true to what he believes is a “quality” sound.
Jay is known for his funky touch behind the turntables - he manages to play the funkiest, grooviest music and create an eclectic mix of various electronic genres that takes people on the dance floor on an unimaginable trip. Always modest, he has nevertheless played most noteworthy underground venues in New York, including: Sullivan Room, Love, Purple (Delft), Pacha (basement), Shelter (basement), Cafe DeVille, Bembe, Vault at Element, and so on, and has shared the decks with some of the greatest names in underground house music, such as: Mark Farina, Kevin Yost, Joey Youngman, John Larner, DJ Mes, Troydon, Jason Hodges, Onionz, Slum Science, etc.

OverUnderRadar.com is a new music blog out of New York, devoted to spreading the good word about house and techno news and events from the city, the Northeast, the US and beyond. The main attraction of the blog will be a weekly mix and podcast from a new guest DJ. Interested in submitting your mix? I’ll post your set, tracklist, bio, Website link and photo to the world. Hosting options are also available. See all the relevant info in the sidebar. To kick off this blog, I’m going to create a shameless plug by making myself the first guest DJ:
Tobytech has been DJing for nearly a decade through Boston and New York. He began in 1999 by hosting Full Circuits, a dance music Internet radio show on RadioBoston.com (now defunct). The show thrived for three years, featuring tracks, interviews and live performances from DJs and live artists all over the greater Boston area — everything from commercial pop to avant-garde. From 2003-2005, he co-produced a series of multimedia events called Remote Control with partner Frank Walls. These were a hybrid of live DJs and video projections, wrapped up in a public access television broadcast. In 2005, Tobytech moved to New York City to expand his musical horizons. He now runs the deep house and techno weekly Hot Wax with Jason Orrell, at SB3 in the East Village.
